2003 Shelburne Classic Auto Festival

In 1903 Dr Jackson and Mr Croker became the first men to successfuly cross the United States in an automobile. Here's some photos of the re-enactment done at the show. (Read the full story). The part of Dr Jackson was played by Avery Hall, Sewell Croker by Bill Erskine, the reporter by Ellen Emerson and John Mahnker narrated the whole event. The part of the 1903 Winton was played by Bill's 1910 Sears.

This actual 1903 automobile is a DeDion Bouton owned by Gene Holzwarth. I was thrilled when he invited me to sit in his car for a picture after the show. Thanks Gene!
