Alden Chapman – VAE President 1977

President in 1977 – South Barre, Vermont

Alden described the antique car hobby this way in 1977: “It’s a disease and the only cure is to buy another car!”. He was the Chairman of the Stowe Meet in 1976 and 1977 and co-chairman in 1978. He also co-edited Wheel Tracks for several years.

Alden, a steadfast and supportive officer and member of the VAE continues to drive one of his “cures”, a 1929 Buick 2 door which started out as a New York City police car.

Alden and his sister, Rita Codding, have in recent years hosted the start of teh annual Myster Tour in early November. Alden and Wayne Martin have put together this tour and they confounded many participants while showing them some of Vermont’s best back roads.
