President in 1980 – St. Albans, Vermont
Al joined the VAE in 1958 and has been an active and dedicated member ever since. He, along with Gen Morgan, resolved some of the growing pain problems with the Stowe Meet and also began the Essex Show in 1979.
Knonw for his talen for discovering the rare and unusual, Al has been the owner of many antique cars and items of automobilia, has a fascination with history of all kinds and above all, a wonderful sense of humor.
Although never officially named the club bard, Al has written many wonderful poems relating to the old car disease which have been published in Wheel Tracks.
Al and his wife, Barbara, have particularly enjoyed participating in costume contest over the year and they have won a number of awards for their original outfits including late twenties bathing suits.
Some of the most memorable meetings over the years have been those arranged by Al, who has always shown the club a good time.
